The success of a project will be influenced, indeed largely determined, by a  Project Manager….. where the corporate goals and culture and short and long term objectives are likely to be different; where the exercise of management is less direct.   They are nonetheless part of the team,  are needed and must add value.

This makes Supplier management  just as important to project success. In fact, supplier management is frequently quite critical to project success. A high percentage of project funds may be expended on suppliers - effective management of subcontracted work is critical. The ways in which these outside suppliers are selected and then managed are amongst the most critical decisions that are made on any project.
